PROPRIETARY SAE1018 Heat Treatments
- Hot-forming: 1180 - 900°C. Soft annealing (+A): 650 - 700°C, furnace cooling. Normalizing (+N): 920°C, air. Quenching (+Q): 880 - 900°C, oil polymer or water. Tempering (+T): 550 - 620°C, air. Carburizing at 925°C, cooling at 250°C, heating at 780°C, pause, then quenching in water and final tempering at 180°C.
