PROPRIETARY SMS3 Heat Treatments
- Annealed condition: Heated to 830°C; Slowly cooled.
Hardening: Preheat to 750°C; Heat to 1010°C; Air cool or gas pressure quench. It is recommended that heating should take place in a neutral atmosphere.
Tempering: First temper at 550°C; Second temper between 550°C and 650°C according to hardness required.
