ASME 1.4122 Heat Treatments
- Hot forming at 1100 to 800°C, slow cooling
Annealing (+A) at 770 to 830°C;
Quenching (+QT) at 1000 to 1100°C, air or oil cooling and Tempering at 200 to 350°C;
Temperatures of annealing, quenching and tempering shall be agreed for simulated heat-treated test pieces;
If heat treatment is carried out in a continuous furnace, the upper part of the range specified is usually preferred, or even exceeded. - Hot working (slow cooling): 1100-800°C; +A - Annealing (furnace or air cooling): 750-850°C; +QT750 - Quenching (oil cooling): 980-1060°C; Tempering: 650-750°C.
