DIN 1.4122 Heat Treatments
- Annealing: Heated at 750-850°C, furnace cooled.
Hardening or quenching: Heated at 980-1030°C, oil quenched.
Tempering: Heated at 650-750°C. - Hot working (slowly cooling): 1100-800°C
+A - Annealing (furnace or air cooling): 750-850°C
+QT750 - Quenching (oil cooling): 980-1060°C, Tempering: 650-750°C.
Hot formed conditions:
1U - Hot formed, not heat treated, not descaled.
1C - Hot formed, heat treated, not descaled.
1E - Hot formed, heat treated, mechanically descaled.
1D - Hot formed, heat treated, pickled, coated (optional).
1X - Hot formed, heat treated, rough machined.
1G - Hot formed, heat treated, descaled, rough machined or shaved in the case of rod.
Cold processed conditions:
2H - Finishes 1E, 1D or 1X, cold processed, coated (optional).
2D - Finish 2H, heat treated, pickled and skin- passed (optional), coated (optional).
2B - Finishes 1E, 1D or 1X, cold processed, mechanically smoothed.
2G - Finishes 2H, 2D or 2B, centreless ground, mechanically smoothed (optional).
P - Finishes 2H, 2D, 2B or 2G, specular polishing.
