SEW G50CrMo4 Heat Treatments
- Normalized at 840-870°C until the core reaches this temperature. Subsequently, they have to cool down in stationary atmosphere
Quenched at 820-850°C homogeneously and thoroughly to the quenching temperature
Tempered at 530-670°C
Surface hardened at 820-890°C by suitable gas burners or by eddy currents to this temperatures. Quenching is usually carried out in water. In order to reduce the risk of cracking, mildly acting quenchants can be used. If possible, immediately after surface hardening, a stress relief heat treatment shall be made at 140-180°C. The duration of stress relieving depends on the wall thickness. It should be at least 1 hour
