B.S. S 144E Heat Treatments
- Solution treated: 1000°C <= θ <= 1050°C (+/- 10°C) (min.1 hours), air cooling. Cooling in air to a temperature not exceeding 30°C;
Primary hardened: 750°C <= θ <= 850°C (+/- 10°C) (min. 2 hours), air cooling. Cooling in air to a temperature not exceeding 30°C;
Cold draw or cold roll re-primary hardened: 750°C <= θ <= 850°C (+/- 10°C), min. 2h. Cooling in air to a temperature not exceeding 30°C;
As condition of supply plus precipitate 440°C <= θ <= 460°C (+/- 5°C), min. 2h, air cooling. Because of the subsequent heat treatment these bars will be slightly scaled. Care shall be taken in subsequent to avoid loss of dimension.
