SAE MLX19 Heat Treatments
- Bars, wire, and forgings shall be solution heat treated by heating to 850 ± 14°C (1560 ± 25°F), holding at heat for 90 ± 15 minutes, and quenching in oil or water, cooling to -73°C (-100°F) or colder, holding at that temperature for not less than sixteen hours, and warming in air to room temperature
Precipitation Heat Treatment: H950; 510 ± 6°C (950 ± 10°F), 16 ± 0.3 hours. - Solution heat treated by heating to 850°C ± 14, holding at heat for 90 minutes ± 15, and quenching in oil or water, cooling to -73°C or colder, holding at that temperature for not less than 16 hours, and warming in air to room temperature. Precipitation heat treatment (H950): temperature 950°F ± 10 (510°C ± 6), time 16 hours ± 0.3.
