ASME 1.4903 Heat Treatments
- Normalizing and tempering (+NT):
Normalizing: 1040 - 1090°C, air cooling;
Tempering: 730 - 780°C, air cooling.
It may be necessary in the case of wall thickness T above 10 mm or T/D > 0.15 to apply quenching and tempering in order to achieve the intended structure and material properties. - Normalized and tempered (+NT): Austenitizing or solution annealing at 1040 - 1090°C, cooling in air, polymer or oil. Tempering at 730 - 780°C, cooling in air.
