ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code An International Code Section II - Part A Ferrous Material Specification / American Society of Mechanical Engineers / 2001
Heat Treatments
- Castings shall be heat treated as follows: Austenitized at 1010°C, air cooled or liquid quenched to below 95°C and tempered at 565-620°C. Preliminary heat treatment prior to final heat treatment as well as multiple tempering is permitted. Heat treatment shall be performed after the castings have been allowed to cool below the transformation range. If castings are welded, they shall be post welded heat treated at a temperature between 565°C and 620°C, or re-heat treated as detailed above. The minimum pre-heat temperature prior to welding shall be 10°C.
