ASME SA-645 Grade A Heat Treatments
- Hardening - The plates shall be heated to a temperature within the range from 855 to 915°C (1575 to 1675°F), held within that temperature range for a minimum of 2.4 min/mm of thickness, but in no case less than 15 min, and then water-quenched to below 150°C (300°F).
Intermediate Heat Treatment - The plates shall be reheated to a temperature within the range from 690 to 760°C (1275 to 1400°F), held within that temperature range for a minimum of 2.4 min/mm of thickness, but in no case less than 15 min, and then water-quenched to below 150°C (300°F).
Tempering - The plates shall be reheated to a temperature within the range from 620 to 665°C (1150 to 1225°F), held within that temperature range for a minimum of 2.4 min/mm of thickness, but in no case less than 15 min, and then water-quenched or air cooled to below 150°C (300°F).
