PROPRIETARY X15TN Heat Treatments


  • Annealed condition: Heat to 840°C followed by slow cooling.
    Quenched and tempered: Hardened at 1010°C, oil or gas quench. Temper at 180°C.
    Quenched and double tempered: Hardened at 1010°C, oil or gas quench. Double temper at 500°C.
    Quenched, sub-zero treated and tempered: Hardened at 1050°C, oil quench. Sub-zero treatment (-70/-80°C). Temper at 180°C.
    Quenched, sub-zero treated and double tempered: Hardened at 1075°C, oil quench. Sub-zero treatment (-70/-80°C). Double temper at 500°C.
    Harden: Heat to 1050/1075°C; Sub-zero treatment (-70/80°C) if required; Oil or gas pressure quench (> 3 bars).
    Temper: According to hardness required.
    Forging: 1200/1000°C.
  • Annealing: 840°C followed by slow cooling.
    Quenching:
    - preheating to 780°C,
    - heating to 1050°C,
    - quenching under gas pressure.
    - Cold pass -76°C recommended.
    - For parts with a large cross-section and simple geometry, oil quenching is recommended.
    - Heating in an inert atmosphere is recommended.
    Tempering : according to the desired hardness.
