ASTM A 691 Grade 9CR Heat Treatments

  • Post-weld heat treat (stress relieving): 715 - 745°C (1325 - 1375°F).
Normalizing: Air-hardenable steel, at times retaining austenite down to near atmospheric temperature. Good practice is to allow the steel to cool to 65°C (150°F) or lower before subjecting the steel to a tempering treatment or post-weld heat treatment.
    Tempering temperature, min: 715 - 745°C (1325 - 1375°F).
