PROPRIETARY Sandvik 4C27A Heat Treatments
- Soft-annealing at 650-680°C (1200-1250°F) for 1h. For wire d < 6 mm, hardening is conducted at 1060-1090°C (medical wires at 1030-1050°C) for 3-6 min., quenching in oil at 50°C. For wire d > 6 mm, hardening is conducted at 1060-1090°C (medical wires at 1030-1050°C) for 6-10 min., quenching in oil at 50°C.Tempering at 100-350°C (210-660°F ) for 30-60 min. Temperatures below 350°C(660°F) are recommended for the retention of favorable corrosion resistance.
