ASTM A 1049 Grade F57 Heat Treatments
- Forgings may be machined before solution annealing at the manufacturer’s option, unless the purchaser requires that machining to a prescribed configuration be done before heat treatment. All forgings shall be reheated to the required temperature for solution treatment followed, unless otherwise agreed with the purchaser, by water quenching. With the purchaser’s consent some other liquid quenching medium may be used to rapidly cool the forging.
Solution temperature: min. 1060°C (1940°F); Water quench to below: 95°C (200°F).
