ASTM A 723 Grade 3 Class 2 Heat Treatments
- Heat treatment shall consist of normalizing (which may be part of the preliminary treatment), reaustenitization, liquid quenching, and tempering. The forgings shall be quenched in a suitable liquid medium by spraying or immersion. Quenching shall be followed by tempering at a minimum temperature of 540°C (1000°F). The minimum time at tempering temperature shall be 0.5h / 25 mm of maximum section thickness, unless otherwise agreed between supplier and purchaser.
