PROPRIETARY 34CrNiMo6 Heat Treatments
- Hot forming: 1100 - 900°C. Normalizing (+N): 860 - 870°C, air cooling. Quenching (+Q): 870°C, oil or polymer cooling. Quenching (+Q): 860°C, water cooling. Tempering (+T): 600 - 650°C, air cooling. Stress relieving (+SR): 50°C under the temperature of tempering. Soft annealing (+A): 650 - 680°C, air cooling. Isothermal annealing (+I): 850 - 900°C, cooling furnace to 500°C, then air cooling. Full annealing: 830 - 900°C, cooling furnace to 300°C. End quench hardenability test: 850°C, water cooling. Mechanical properties at different tempering temperatures obtained after quenching at 850°C in oil. Mechanical and elevated temperature properties for forged rounds are quenched at 870°C in water and tempered at 630°C, air cooled.
- Hot forgings deformation: 850-1150°C
Isothermal annealing: 820-860°C (650°C)
Soft annealing: 640-680°C
Quenching in oil: 830-860°C
Tempering: 550-650°C
