PROPRIETARY Sandvik SAF 2507 Heat Treatments
- The tubes are normally delivered in heat treated condition. In addition solution annealing at 1050-1125°C (1920-2060°F), rapid cooling in air or water, is recommended.
Bars and hollow bars are normally delivered in solution annealed and quenched condition. If further hot working is needed, solution annealing with slow heating up to 1000°C (1830°F). Annealing at 1050-1125°C (1920-2060°F), followed by quenching, is recommended. For hollow bars stress relief heat treatment at 350°C (660°F) for 5h followed by air cooling is used.
Billets are supplied in the hot worked condition. For finished products, the following heat treatment is recommended: Solution annealing with slow heating up to 1000°C (1830°F). Annealing at 1050-1120°C (1920-2050°F), followed by quenching in water. Stress relief heat treatment at 350°C (660°F) for 5h followed by air cooling.
Billets hot working should be carried out at a material temperature of 1000-1200°C (1830-2190°F). Heating should be slow up to 1000°C (1830°F). If the temperature falls below 1000°C (1830°F) during hot working, there is a risk of sigma phase formation and the material must, therefore, be reheated.
Strips are solution annealing at 1050-1125°C (1920-2060°F) for 1-5 minutes, followed by rapid cooling in air or water. Aging at 480°C (900°F) for 3 h.
