- Austenitizing (quenching in water or oil): 81-85°C (30 min.); Tempering: 550-660°C 60 min.); Normalizing: 830-870°C (30 min.) The temperature at the lower end of the range are applicable to hardening in water, at the upper end for hardening in oil.
