ASTM A 335 Grade P91 Type 1 Heat Treatments
- Normalized and tempered or quenched and tempered. Normalized in range 1040 - 1080°C (1900 - 1975°F) and tempered in range 730 - 800°C (1350 - 1470°F) except when specified by purchaser. Shall be normalized and tempered at a temperature, to be specified by the purchaser, less than 730°C (1350°F). It shall be purchaser’s responsibility to subsequently temper at 730 - 800°C (1350 - 1470°F) minimum.
It is recommended that the temperature for tempering should be at least 50°C (100°F) above the intended service temperature; consequently, the purchaser should advise the manufacturer if the service temperature is to be over 600°C (1100°F).
After weld repair, shall be heat treated at 730 - 800°C (1350 - 1470°F).
