EN 50CrMo4 Heat Treatments
- Austenitizing (quenching in oil): 820-860°C, t > 30 min. Synthetic quenchants may also be used. Tempering: 540-680°C, t > 60 min. A mandatory end quench test shall be carried out at 850+/- 5°C.
- Austenitizing (quenching in oil): 820-870°C, (at least 30 min). NOTE: The temperatures at the lower end of the range are generally applicable to hardening in water and those at the upper end for hardening in oil. Synthetic quenchants may also be used; Tempering: 540-680°C, (at least 60 min); End quench test: 850±5°C.
