DIN 46 CrS 2 Heat Treatments
- Austenitizing (quenching in water or oil): 820-860°C, t > 30 min. NOTE: The temperatures at the lower end of the range are generally applicable to hardening in water and those at the upper end for hardening in oil. Synthetic quenchants may also be used. Tempering: 540-680°C, t > 60 min. A mandatory end quench test shall be carried out at 850+/- 5°C.
