DIN 38 Cr 2 Heat Treatments

  • Austenitizing (quenching in oil or water): 830-870°C, (at least 30 min). NOTE: The temperatures at the lower end of the range are generally applicable to hardening in water and those at the upper end for hardening in oil. Synthetic quenchants may also be used; Tempering: 540-680°C, (at least 60 min); End quench test: 850±5°C.
  • Austenitizing (quenching in water or oil): 830-870°C, t > 30 min.
