DIN C45E Heat Treatments
- Hardening: 820-860°C (Temperatures at the lower end of the range are generally used for water, and those at the upper end for oil quenching; Time for austenitizing as a guide: at least 30 min.);
Quenching agent: Water or oil (Other quenching agents such as synthetic quenchants may also be used.);
Tempering: 550-660°C (Time for tempering as a guide: at least 1h.);
End quench test austenitizing: 850 ± 5°C (Time for austenitizing as a guide: 30-35 min.);
Normalizing: 840-880°C. - (+N) Normalized: 840-880°C, cooled in air;
(+QT) Quenched: 820-860°C, cooled in oil or water, Tempered: 550-660°C.
