DIN 28Mn6 Heat Treatments

  • Hardening: 830-870°C (Temperatures at the lower end of the range are generally used for water, and those at the upper end for oil quenching; Time for austenitizing as a guide: at least 30 min.);
    Quenching agent: Water or oil (Other quenching agents such as synthetic quenchants may also be used.);
    Tempering: 540-680°C (Time for tempering as a guide: at least 1h.);
    End quench test austenitizing: 850 ± 5°C (Time for austenitizing as a guide: 30-35 min.).
  • Annealing: 650-750°C; Normalizing: 850-880°C; Hardening in water: 820-850°C; Hardening in oil: 830-860°C; Tempering: 540-680°C
