DIN 1.6368 Heat Treatments
- Quenching and tempering: Normalizing or hardening at 880-960°C. After reaching the temperature in the entire cross-section, air cooled. For product with t > 150 mm (if necessary > 100 mm) quenched in water or oil.
Tempered at 580-680°C, held for minimum 30 minutes, cooled in air. - Normalizing and tempering (+NT): 880-980°C, air cooling. Tempering: 580-680°C, air cooling. It may be necessary in the case of wall thickness T above 10 mm or T/D > 0.15 to apply quenching and tempering in order to achieve the intended structure and material properties.
