CSN 19 663 Heat Treatments


  • Forging at 1100 to 850°C, cool slowly in air or better e.g. in dry ash; Annealing at 680 to 700°C, warm few hours (according to the size of the piece), usually just four hours and cooling slowly in the oven; Annealing to lower tension at 600 to 650°C, 1-2 hours to warm up and cooling slowly; Hardening in air at 870 to 900°C or hardening in oil at 840 to 870°C, cooling in the oil to about 100°C; Tempering at 450 to 650°C, cooling in air.
