CSN 19 419 Heat Treatments
- Forging at 1050 to 800°C slowly cool in dry ash or sand, or in an annealing furnace.
Soft annealing at 720 to 750°C, several hours of warming (by piece size), usually 4 hours and slowly cooling in the oven.
Hardening in oil at 810 to 840°C.
Tempering at 300 to 500°C, to cool in the furnace, the degree of tempering is governed by the required hardness and toughness of the tool.
