CSN 16 420 Heat Treatments


  • Forging at 1100 to 800°C, cooling slowly in ash;
    Normalizing at 830 to 870°C, cooling in air;
    Soft annealing at 620 to 680°C, cooling in furnace;
    Case-hardening in gas at 900 to 930°C, cooling in a cooling unit or in cooling zone.
    Case-hardening in in salt bath at 890 to 910°C, cooling in air.
    Case-hardening in powder at 860 to 900°C, cooling in a box or case hardening on air.
    Hardening at 800 to 840°C, blurring into oil;
    Tempering at 150 to 200°C, delay temperature for about 1 hour, and cool in air;
    Refining hardening at 810 to 850°C, blurring into the oil, the thicker parts in the water.
    Refining tempering according to the required strength, cooling in air or water.
