B.S. S 538 Heat Treatments
- Heat treatment:
Softening shall be heating at a temperature between 690 +/- 10°C for not less than 6h, followed by cooling in air or a protective atmosphere.
Final treatment:
a) Hardening: Heat at a temperature of 1050 +/- 10°C, followed by cooling in air.
b) Tempering: Heat at a temperature of 650 +/- 5°C for 4h, followed by cooling in air.
