B.S. S 136 Heat Treatments
- Spheroidizing treatment: Heat at a temperature of 820 ± 10°C for not less than 6 h, Cool to 700°C at a rate not greater than 10°C per hour, Furnace cool to 500°C, Air cool or furnace cool to room temperature. Softening treatment: The softening treatment shall consist of heating uniformly at a temperature between 700°C and 750°C for not less than 1 h, followed by cooling in air or furnace. Final heat treatment: Hardening - Heat uniformly at a temperature between 820°C and 860°C, followed by cooling in oil, Tempering - Heat at a temperature of 165 ± 5°C for 1 h, followed by cooling in air. Alternatively, the final heat treatment of parts shall be agreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser.
