SAE AlSi10Mg Heat Treatments


  • Stress Relieve: Product shall be stress relieved at 300°C ± 9°C for a minimum soak time of 2 hours and a maximum soak time of 3 hours followed by air cool. Stress relieving shall be conducted in air or in an inert atmosphere.

    Hot Isostatic Press: Product shall be hot isostatically pressed (HIP) under an inert atmosphere at 504°C ± 22°C for 4 hours ± 2 hours at a minimum of 100 MPa and cooled under inert atmosphere until the HIP vessel is depressurized..

    Solution Treatment: Product shall be solution heat treated at 529°C ± 8°C for a minimum soak time of 6 hours and a maximum soak time of 6.5 hours and quenched. Solution heat treating shall be conducted in air or in an inert atmosphere. Quenching may be conducted in either hot water or polymer in accordance with AMS2771 for castings.

    Artificial Aging: Product shall be artificially aged at 176°C ± 6°C for a minimum soak time of 7 hours and a maximum soak time of 7.25 hours and air cooled. Artificial aging shall be conducted in air or in an inert atmosphere.
