B.S. L 157 Heat Treatments
- The solution treatment shall consist of heating at a temperature of 505 ± 5°C for not more than 30 min and quenching in water at a temperature not exceeding 40°C.
Artificial ageing shall consist of heating at a temperature of 175 ± 5°C for 7-12 h.
Artificial ageing by the purchaser or by the manufacturer to demonstrate convertibility shall consist of heating at a temperature of 175 ± 5°C for 9-12 h.
The duration of ageing at room temperature shall be not less than 5 days nor more than 10 days.
