SAE 6952 Heat Treatments

  • Forgings shall be solution heat treated by heating to a temperature 15 to 35°C (59 to 95°F) below the beta transus determined on each heat of alloy, holding at the selected temperature within ±8°C (±15°F) for 1 hour ± 0.25 hour, and cooling at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster and precipitation heat treated by heating to 635°C ± 8°C (1175°F ± 15°F), holding at heat for 1 hour ± 0.25 hour, and cooling in air.
