PROPRIETARY ATI X-751 Heat Treatments


  • For optimum creep-rupture strength, solution treating can be done at 1149°C (2100°F) for 2-4 hours, then air-cooled. Aging can be done at 843°C (1550°F) for 24 hours, with an air cool, followed by 20 hours at 704°C (1300°F), air cool. For optimum room and elevated temperature tensile properties, the alloy can be solution treated at 982°C (1800°F) for 1 hour, air cooled, followed by aging at 732°C (1350°F) for 8 hours, slow cooling at 56°C (100°F) per hour to 621°C (1150°F), holding at 621°C (1150°F) for 8 hours, and air cooled. For service below 593°C (1100°F), the alloy may be hardened by omitting the solution heat treatment and directly aging at 704°C (1300°F) after hot or cold working, or by stress relief annealing at 885°C (1625°F) for 24 hours followed by air cooling prior to the 20 hour age at 704°C (1300°F).
