B.S. HR 53 Heat Treatments
- Bars for Machining: Delivery condition - Solution treated: θ = (1 090 ± 10) °C / t = 3 h / AC or OQ or WQ. Use condition - Solution treated + precipitation treated: Delivery condition + θ = (775 ± 5) °C / 2 h <= t <= 4 h / AC + 705 °C <= θ <= 720 °C / t = 24 h / AC.
Extruded sections for subsequent forming: Delivery condition - Solution treated: θ = (1 090 ± 10) °C / t = 3 h / AC or OQ or WQ Heat treatment: Solution treated + precipitation treated θ = (1 090 ± 10) °C / t = 3 h / AC or OQ or WQ + θ = (775 ± 5) °C / 2 h <= t <= 4 h / AC + 705 °C <= θ <= 720 °C / t = 24 h / AC.
Bars and billets for forging: Solution treated + precipitation treated θ = (1 090 ± 10) °C / t = 3 h / AC or OQ or WQ + θ = (775 ± 5) °C / 2 h <= t <= 4 h / AC + 705 °C <= θ <= 720 °C / t = 24 h / AC.
Forgings: Delivery and use condition - θ = (1 090 ± 10) °C / t = 3 h / AC or OQ or WQ + θ = (775 ± 5) °C / 2 h G t G 4 h / AC + 705 °C <= θ <= 720 °C / t = 24 h / AC - I)Solution treatment:
The material shall be heated at a temperature of 1090°C ± 10°C for 3h, followed by cooling in a suitable medium.
II) Precipitation treatment:
Stage 1 The material shall be heated at a temperature of 775°C ± 5°C for 2 to 4h, followed by cooling in air.
Stage 2 The material shall be heated uniformly at a temperature within the range 705°C to 720°C for 24h, followed by cooling in air.
