MIL A201.0 Heat Treatments
- Solution heat-treating 507° to 518°C incl followed by 518°C to 529°C incl.; Recommended soaking time in hours: 2h min at 507°C to 518°C followed by 8 to 24 incl. at 518° to 529°C. Soaking time varies with section thickness and grain size of castings. Castings may be quenched from the solution heat-treating temperature into a water bath at 66°-88°C, a water bath at room temperature, or an aqueous solution of polyalkylene glycol, provided that specified requirements are met; Temper after solution treatment -T4; Aging (precipitation) heat treatments. No quenching required. Cool in still air outside furnace; Recommended aging temperature: 182°-193°C, preceded by 24h min. at room temperature. Recommended soaking time is 5h and temper after aging treatment is T7.
