PROPRIETARY Alloy 625 Heat Treatments

  • Melting can be undertaken by Electric Arc Furnace, followed by Argon Oxygen Decarburisation or Vacuum Oxygen Decarbonisation and then Vacuum Arc Remelting or Electric Slag Refining. Alternatively, melting by Vacuum Induction Melting followed by further refinement by Electric Slag Refining or Vacuum Arc Remelting is allowed.
Annealing shall be carried out at a temperature above 875°C, allowing sufficient time for full annealing to take place. Quenching can be by water quench or air quench.
  • The standard anneal at a minimum 871°C is used for service temperatures up to 649°C. When optimum high temperature creep and rupture properities are required, as for service above 649°C, a solution anneal 1093°C minimum is used. In the solution annealed condition a subsequent stabilization anneal at 982°C minimum is sometimes specified to further inrease resistance to sensitizaion.
