ASME SB-367 Grade C-17 Heat Treatments
- If post-weld heat treatment is required, it shall consist of a stress relief performed at 580 ± 14°C (1075 ± 25°F). Time at temperature shall be a minimum of 30 min plus an additional 30 min at temperature per 25 mm (1 in.) of thickness for section sizes greater than 25 mm (1 in.). After heat treatment, the castings should be cooled in air or in the furnace to ambient temperature unless otherwise agreed upon between the purchaser and producer.
