PROPRIETARY Alloy 400 Heat Treatments

  • All material shall be melted by Electric Arc Furnace or Electric Induction Furnace utilising either vacuum or inert gas shrouding. The minimum forging ratio utilised is at least 4:1, between 650 - 1175°C. Solution annealing shall be undertaken at a temperature between 760 - 980°C for a time dependent upon section size, followed by water quench.
  • Annealing: 800 - 900°C, Stress-relief annealing: 550 - 650°C, Duration depending on thickness of semi-finished product. Cooling: air.
