SAE 6156 Heat Treatments
- Age to T62 temper: age for 4 to 6 hours at 185 to 190°C (365 to 375°F).
- Annealing: Soak for 2 to 3 hours at 404°C (760°F); cool at rate of 28°C (50°F) per hour or slower to 260°C (500°F ); further cooling rate optional.
Solution heat treating temperature (for sheet): 543-552°C (1010-1025°F) , followed by an air cool and quenched.
