SAE 6056 Heat Treatments
- Solution heat treatment: 544 - 557°C (1012 - 1032°F);
T62: Aged for 2 - 6 hours at 187 - 193°C (369 - 379°F);
T72: Aged for 4 - 8 hours at 172 - 178°C (342 - 352°F) followed by 11 - 15 hours at 187 - 193°C (369 - 379°F). - Annealing: Soak for 2 to 3 hours at 404°C (760°F); cool at rate of 28°C (50°F) per hour or slower to 260°C (500°F ); further cooling rate optional.
Solution heat treating temperature (for extrusions): 544-557°C (1012-1032°F) , followed by an air cool and quenched.
