SAE 2099 Heat Treatments
- Solution heat treatment: Heat to 543 ± 11°C (1010 ± 20°F);
Aging: Heat to 121 ± 6°C (250 ± 10°F), hold at heat for a time of 10 - 14 hours, then heat to 152 ± 6 °C (305 ± 10 °F), hold at heat for a time of 42 - 54 hours, and air cool. - Solution heat treatment temperature: 516 to 549°C (960 to 1020°F).
Aging heat treatment: Heat to 121°C ± 6°C (250°F ± 10°F), hold at temperature for a time of 10 to 14 hours, then heat to 152°C ± 6°C (305°F ± 10°F), hold at temperature for a time of 14 to 19 hours and air cool.
