SAE 7055 Heat Treatments
- Extruded, solution heat-treated and stress-relieved by stretching to produce a nominal permanent set of 1.5%, but not less than 1% nor more than 3%, and overaged to the T74511 temper.
Overaging heat treatment: Heat to 121 ± 6°C (250 ± 10°F), hold at heat for a time of 4-6 hours, then heat to 160 ± 6°C (320 ± 10°F), hold at heat for a time of 11-12 hours, and air cool. - Overaging heat treatment: Heat to 116 to 121°C (240 to 250°F), hold at temperature for a time of 4 to 6 hours, then heat to 154 to 160°C (310 to 320°F), hold at temperature for a time of 6.5 to 7.5 hours, and air cool.
