GB TC18 Heat Treatments
- Heat treated: 820-850°C, insulation 1-3 h, furnace cooling to 740-760°C, insulation 1-3 h, air cooling; 500-650°C, insulation 2-6 h, air cooling
- Plates: Annealing in the range 740-760°C/15-120 min, air cooling.
Forged bars: Annealing in the range 820-850°C/60-180 min, air cooling after furnace cooling. Furnace heating up to 740-760°C/1-3h, air cooling, then re-heating in the range 500-650°C/2-6h, air cooling.
Stress relief annealing: from 600 to 680°C, holding time 60 to 240 min, furnace or air cooling or inert atmosphere.
Forged bars, castings: Solution treated in the range 720-780°C/60-180 min, water quenching. Re-heating in the range 810-830°C/1-3h, furnace cooling, than aging.
Solution heat treatment: Aging in the range 480-600°C/4-10h, than cooling in air or furnace or inert atmosphere.
