SAE Ti-5Al-2.5Sn Heat Treatments

  • Annealing:
Bars, wire, and flash welded rings shall be annealed by heating to a temperature within the range 718 to 843°C (1325 to 1550°F), holding at the selected temperature within ±14°C (±25°F) for 10 minutes to 4 hours depending on section thickness, and cooling as required.
  • Annealed by heating to a temperature within the range 704 to 843°C (1300 to 1550°F), holding at the selected temperature within ± 14°C (± 25°F) for a time commensurate with the thickness and the heating equipment and procedure used, and cooling. Additionaly, the product can meet the requirements after being reheated to 816°C ± 14°C (1500°F ± 25°F), held at heat for 20 minutes per 25 mm of thickness, cooled, and descaled.
