SAE CP-2 Heat Treatments
- The product shall be annealed by heating to a temperature within the range of 649 to 816°C (1200 to 1500°F), holding at the selected temperature within ±14°C (±25°F) for a time commensurate with the thickness and the heating equipment and procedure used, and cooling at a rate that will produce required product.
- Annealing:
Heat to a temperature within the range 649 to 816°C (1200 to 1500°F), hold at the selected temperature within ± 14°C (±25°F) for 15 to 120 min, and cool as required. Annealing times for material processed in a continuous furnace may be shortened to 2 minutes minimum.
Stress Relieved Condition:
Heat to 593°C ± 14°C (1100 °F ± 25°F) and soak for 2 hours ± 30 minutes and air or furnace cool.
