SAE 5875 Heat Treatments
- Solution heat treated by heating to 1177 ± 14°C (2150 ± 25°F), holding at heat for a time commensurate with section thickness, and cooling as required. After cold rolling, the strip shall be aged by heating to a temperature within the range 454 to 510°C (850 to 950°F), holding at the selected temperature within ± 14°C (± 25°F) for 5 to 5-1/2 hours, and cooling in air to room temperature.
