SAE 850.0 Heat Treatments
- Castings shall be stress-relieved by heating uniformly to 420° - 440°F (216° - 227°C), holding at heat for not less than 5 hr, and cooling in air.
- Aging (precipitation heat treatment):
Condition before Aging F (as cast);
Aging at 221°C (430°F), soak time is 5 minimum hours;
Temper T5 after Aging.
