SAE 520.0 Heat Treatments
- Temper T4
Sand Castings
Solution Heat Treated at 432(1) ± 6°C (810 ± 10°F), 16-18 hours.
(1) Quench in water at 65 to 100°C (150 to 212°F) except as noted.
For these alloys, mechanical properties are often specified in critical casting locations. Precipitation heat treat temperatures and times may be widely altered to achieve specified casting properties. - Solution heat treatment shall be at the temperature: 432°C (810°F), minimum soak time is 12 hours and Quenched;
Temper after Solution treatment shall be T4 and delay at room temperature.
Annealing at 385°C (725°F), minimum soak time is 5 hours; Air cooling;
