Sand Castings
Solution Heat Treated (1) at 527 ± 6°C (980 ± 10°F), 8-12 hours;
Precipitation Heat Treated at 154 ± 6°C (310 ± 10°F), 3-5 hours.
Permanent Mold Castings
Solution Heat Treated (1) at 527 ± 6°C (980 ± 10°F), 4-12 hours;

Permanent Mold Castings
Solution Heat Treated (1) at 527 ± 6 °C (980 ± 10°F), 4-12 hours;
Precipitation Heat Treated at 246 ± 6°C (475 ± 10°F), 3-6 hours.
(1) Quench in water at 65 to 100°C (150 to 212°F) except as noted. - Precipitation heat treatment shall be in accordance with AMS 2771 except that set temperature and soak time shall be 221-232°C (430-450°F) for 7 to 9 hours. Test specimen(s) shall be put into a batch furnace with each load of castings or into a continuous furnace at intervals of not longer than 3 hours.
